On a yearly basis the population of the United States increases with people who speak a foreign dialect. As a result, you are more apt to encounter an individual in your daily life where knowing the Spanish language will be beneficial.

The Spanish language can be fun and interesting. It will make you comfortable in situations where you would be lost if you did not know the dialect.

It is easy to become proficient in the Spanish language, if you begin with the basics. Usually people start with numbers and the alphabet. Do not forget zero when learning numbers. The sounds of the alphabet follow very strict rules which rarely change. Once you have mastered the alphabet then spelling will be easier.

Greetings such as “good morning” and “thank you” are important to know. Studying greetings help you speak the Spanish Language in its simplest form because you do not have to worry about a lot of word orders or verb agreements. They are taught in simple phrases, therefore no additional words need to be looked up or added.

Next you may study phrases including “how are you” and “what is your name”. Of course, “where is the bathroom?” might be the best phrase to be able to speak in the Spanish language.

Eventually you will be able to form more complex greetings and phrases.

Additional fundamental words or phrases you can start to master include colors, telling time, asking directions, foods, days of the week, gender, body parts and family. Studying these everyday terms will help you learn the Spanish language faster because you will be able to practice them daily.

Once you get these basics down you will think the Spanish language is a breeze. However, it does get a little more complicated.

You will hear conjugating verbs is the most challenging part of the Spanish language. There is no need to worry. With just a little bit of attention, you will be correctly speaking verbs in no time.

Conjugating verbs means matching up the correct verb form for each subject. For example, in English we say “I have” but we say “He has”. The Spanish language follows the same principle, except they have more different forms for the subject.

So, start with a few basic words. Begin thinking correctly about these first few words and you will set a precedent that will carry through all your Spanish language education. To do this method of studying, look at the object and think the Spanish word. Do not think the English word and then translate it in your head. That process is a bad habit to get into and it will not help you learn Spanish. If you start out training correctly, then the rest will go much smoother.
